You'll get tapped sometimes, and that's fine. What matters is the hand that pulls you up, the smile after, and going again. That's what we train for.

What's the difference between Gi and NoGi?

"Gi" is the traditional jacket-and-belt uniform. "NoGi" is the same grappling, done in a rashguard and shorts instead. Some classes are Gi/NoGi, so wear whichever you prefer and you'll be paired with a partner in the same.

Do I need my own gear for my first class?

No — whatever class you try, just come in sports clothes, we'll lend you anything else you might need.

FAQ

Good to know before you show up

See full FAQ →

What should I bring to my first class?

Just sports clothes, like something you'd wear to go jogging. Gis and gloves are lent for trials and new students.

Do I need any experience or a certain fitness level?

No. Just make sure there's no medical condition that would prevent rigorous physical activity.

Do I need to book in advance?

No, members can just walk in. Trials should be booked ahead of time.

Can membership be paused?

Yes, for up to 2 months, for travel or injury.

What's the minimum age for adult classes?

Adult classes are 16 and up. A Kids-age student under 16 who is over 50kg can join adult classes early.

Can parents watch kids classes?

There's a waiting area, though space is limited. We gently discourage staying to watch, as it can hinder a child's learning progress.

Is martial arts good for kids? What age can they start?

Yes. We run age-appropriate classes starting from Tots at 4 years old, then Kids from 7–15, with a dedicated kids' coach.
